The Body Shop Banana Conditioner Review

I know this is a hair product and not a makeup one but I had to share my experience with the Body Shop Banana Conditioner.

I have always had problems with conditioner. I used to use the commercial brands like Loreal, Sunsilk, Panteen and so on. I would get bad allergies every time I would use them. I would get blisters on the back of my neck and it would itch all day long.

For a long time I thought I was allergic to all conditioners. I also went to a dermatologists with this problem and he told me that I am not allergic to the conditioners but actually I was allergic to the detergent present in all these commercial hair products.

My doctor asked me to look for a brand which uses natural ingredients and not harmful chemicals. Then at last I found The Body Shop. I bought the banana conditioner first and found that it was not working at all. The the sales girl in the shop asked me to use it with a body shop shampoo and then my life completely changed.

The official website of The Body Shop says this about the conditioner:

"This thick and creamy conditioner leaves hair beautifully soft and tangle-free. It contains real banana puree."

The description of the conditioner is so true. The conditioner is thick and extremely creamy. It also reduces tangles and leaves the hair feeling so soft. I noticed that the conditioner reduces tangles when I had done global colouring to my hair. As you may know, if you go for global colouring, it always makes the hair extremely dry and also makes it very difficult to remove tangles after washing. But when I used this conditioner I couldn't believe how nice I could get my hair tangle free.

The consistency as mentioned earlier is quite thick and creamy. It smells amazing, like a mixture of banana smoothie and pineapple. I sometimes feel the urge to taste it.

Price in India: Rs795

On last helpful tip I will give before ending this blog is that if you are thinking of becoming a regular customer of The Body Shop then go for their membership. With every purchase you get a certain percentage discount (only if you show the card) and at certain amount of purchase you also get gift vouchers. I shop so much from The Body Shop that I love the discounts I get every time.

Thank you so much for reading. Please leave a comment below to let me know if this was at all helpful to you.

Grey sparkly eyes with Bold Lips

I am going to attempt to do my first makeup tutorial in a blog. I really wanted to do this for a long time. I have made the video of the same tutorial on my Yoututbe channel. Click on the link below to go to my channel.

Let's start with the picture tutorial.

The look that I am going to explain is a grey sparkly eyes with bold lips. This look will be perfect for a night time party. The look turned out quite nice and I have to admit I was very proud of the end result.

If you don't like to read, you can also watch the whole tutorial here

1. Step one is very crucial when we are dealing with dark eyeshadows. This step is applying a primer all over my eye lids till the brow bone. The primer I like to use for eyes in Loreal Base Magique Primer. This is a silicone base primer and helps the shadows last for a long time.

2. Then I am going to add a concealer over the primer as a base. I like concealer for base because it creates a blank canvas for applying the eyeshadows and covers any discolouration or veins. The concealer should be the same colour as what you are going to be using for covering your under eye dark circles. I am going to use the MAC conceal and correct palette in medium dark and my concealer number is NC42. I am going to apply this with a small angled brush but you can use your fingers too if you want.

3. Then to avoid the concealer from creasing I will apply a mattifying powder all over the concealer. I am doing this because I not only want to avoid creasing of my concealer but also as I have a oily skin the powder will mattify the skin and my eyeshadow would last longer. I am using Faces Ultime Pro Mineral Loose Powder and I will apply this with PAC brush 022.

4. Next I will take the Faces Ultime Pro Eyeshadow crayon in the colour Dancing Queen and will apply this all over the lid area. There is no particular technique required here but just adding the crayon on your lid and not going beyond the lid area.

5. Then I am going to smooth out the harsh edges left by the eyeshadow crayon with the help of a crease brush from MAC 217 and eyeshadow from Makeupgeek Frappe. This step is very crucial and you have to keep building up the colour till you feel the crayon is well blended. Start with a little bit of product and then keep building on it till you get the required result.

6. Then I am going to intensify the outer corner with the help of a black eyeshadow. I will be using small smudger brush from Real Technique and PAC eyeshadow number 14. Then blend the black with the same crease brush with other eyeshadow.

7. To finish the upper lid by apply a liner. I am using a gel eyeliner and making a dramatic wing too. I am applying the gel eyeliner with a Real Technique Liner brush. The gel liner is Maybelline Gel Liner. Also adding MAC Opulash mascara to my upper lashes.

8. For Lower lash line I applied the same faces eyeshadow crayon and then coated the lower lashes with the same mascara.

9. Highlight the inner corner and the brow bone with a PAC eyeshadow number 15.

This completes the eye look. I have paired it with my favourite dark lipstick from MAC in the shade Diva. I hope you enjoyed this picture tutorial. Please comment and share if you liked it.

Loreal Base Magique Primer Review

Let me start this review by first addressing why we need a primer?

You must have heard the word primer in context of painting walls. A primer in this case is put as the first coating on a surface to increase the paint durability. Similarly a face primer is applied to the skin before we start the makeup to make the makeup last longer.

Basically, a face primer is something that you apply before your makeup and after your moisturiser which forms a base for your makeup to go smoother and last longer. There are essentially two kinds of primer. Silicone based primer and water based primer. When you read the ingredients of a primer you will easily be able to understand which kind of primer you are using. If you have acne prone skin please be a little careful while using a silicone based primer.

A silicone based primer forms a smooth layer instead of getting absorbed by the skin because skin cannot absorb silicone. It fills all the pores on your skin and also hides fine lines. Sometimes this type of primer can be worn on its own without any makeup on it. Silicone base primer is very good as a eye primer and also for oily skin.

On the other hand, a water based primer gets easily absorbed by the skin. The main ingredient in any water based primer is water and glycerine. Hence, when you apply this primer, the skin absorbs the water in it and when it gets dry glycerine becomes sticky for your foundation to stick to it like a glue and hence foundation lasts longer. Water based foundation is not so good if you have oily skin as it might make you even more oily.

You also have to remember another thing about primers is that a silicone based primer goes well with a silicone based foundation and a water based primer goes well with a water based foundation. This is because silicone repels water and if you use a silicone based primer underneath a water based foundation this may cause the water to repel silicone and you foundation may look patchy.

The Loreal Base Magique primer is a silicone based primer. This is what the official Loreal website has to say about the primer:

"Thanks to a high concentration of elastomers, L’OrĂ©al Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer gives skin an incredibly even surface with fine lines and pores erased. The formula also contains soft powders to help absorb sebum, thereby mattifying the skin to reduce shine."

When you are using please make sure to take a little bit and also rubbing it in between your finger before applying for smooth application as the consistency is very thick. You can also apply this primer with the help of a damp beauty blender. I personally feel the application time of this primer reduces to half when I use a damp beauty blender.

I use this primer primarily on my eye lids and also on all the oily patches of my skin. After applying the primer I let it sit on my skin for a few minutes and then start applying my foundation. This primer like any other primers also help battle extreme weather condition and keeps your makeup looking good in any weather.

I hope you liked my review on the Loreal Base Magique primer. Please comment and share this review.
